Singapore Airlines has teamed up with U.S design firm,Designworks USA as well as UK and Singapore-basedJames Parker and Associates (JPA). Both firms will work together to develop new in-flight cabin amenities to be introduced sometime next year.

Singapore will utilize both firms to revamp seats, cabin interiors and in-flight entertainment. Passengers should notice the new changes next year when SIA takes delivery of new Boeing 777-300ERs that will begin passenger service the second half of 2013. In addition, the new designs will also be featured on the future Singapore Airlines fleet of Airbus A350s and Boeing 787s.

The airline currently maintains one of the world’s youngest fleets of 101 wide-body aircraft with an average age of six and a half years.

Designworks USA will be heading up a new enhanced design for the first class seating as well as a new cabin experience for the Boeing  777/300ER. The revamped seats will include more privacy, bigger storage and better comfort.

JPA will take on the task of designing a new generation of business class seating. JPA will also improve seat comfort as well as sleeping positions for extra-long haul flights. More storage space will also be a feature for the new seat.

The economy class will also get an overhaul to improve better head rest comfort as well as improved personal space.

Singapore, which is among one of the world’s most innovative airlines as well as a favorite for many international travelers will continue to stay on that course by also introducing new in-flight entertainment and enhanced cabin lighting.
