Business class guests on MAS on the rise – upgrade facilities
Malaysian Airlines gears up for the increase in their business class passengers with upgraded facilities. The national carrier is anticipating considerable increase in their business class category and is gearing up for it by upgrading their policy on cabin luggage. They have also upgraded their facilities in their waiting room – Golden lounge at the airport.
Mohd Husaini Ariffin, manager of the Golden lounge said that major renovation would be part of the improvement plans that would take place between May 9th and June 18th. Some of the new features at the lounge would be kids’ room, sports bar, games room etc. He also told media people during a tour that the airline was preparing to get its first Airbus A380; an exercise which is a pat of continues improvement and wanted his airlines to get into oneworld alliance by the end of the year.
The main requirement of the oneworld alliance was to share golden lounge between all its members and check in counters also services such as better facilities in waiting rooms and more spacious cabin with good baggage capacity for each customer.
A lot of renovation has taken place according to Mohd Hussaini. First class seats have been reduced to 50 from original 90 seats and seating capacity has been increased from present 230 seats to 320 seats in the golden lounge. He also said the while renovating business class and first class would be placed in three alternative lounges by the airlines.
The main terminal is the regional lounge for the first class guests. Malaysia Airport CIP lounge and Chinalounge are placed at mezzanine floor and satellite building is meant for guest from business class and first class.
Amendments of policy of the cabin baggage have been streamlined for all the classes which will be brought in effect from 15th May and were the best in the industry and in compliance with oneworld alliance requisites.
The weight of a baggage that a passenger can carry is raised to seven kilograms from previous 5 kilograms in business class and economy class under new policy.
The airways have decided to change its stand on earlier policy by allowing stroller along with the baggage. Stroller is now allowed along with toddler also which was prohibited earlier and was allowed only with an infant.
She also said that stringent rules will be enforced on the allowance of cabin baggage. This is to give their customers optimum comfort and space during the flight.
